WRITING EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS
One Day or Half Day

Do you dread the thought of writing performance appraisals? Do you feel awkward or tense about how the actual discussion is going to turn out?

It seems as if appraisals are due during busy times. There are always too many to do. Recalling the details to specific events is overwhelming.

CMI’s Writing Effective Performance Appraisals workshop focuses on strategies and techniques to simplify, as well as increase the effectiveness of the overall process.

Transform your evaluations from documents containing irrelevant information, and catch phrases, to instruments that provide specific, clear feedback, promoting meaningful professional growth.

The CMI Advantage

CMI customizes this program by integrating your appraisal instruments and methodology for handling the performance interview.

What’s Covered:

  • Organizing feedback in a simple, useful format
  • Using specific examples to illustrate performance objectives
  • Choosing appropriate language
  • Clarifying goals, concerns, and expectations
  • Using the written evaluation to facilitate effective one-to-one reviews

Representative Exercise:

"Get Specific"

Participants start off brainstorming general problem issues in employee performance, such as lack of motivation or inadequate productivity. They then learn to describe these "labels" with examples of specific behaviors. These behaviors are then fit into a framework that sets goals and supports employee skill development.
